ARTIST    STATEMENT

I experience what I call an "artist moment." It happens spontaneously and unpredictably. I describe it as a very personal experiential perception of BEAUTY, often it is what ultimately becomes the focal area of the painting. The experience of "exquisite beauty" that I feel results in an irresistible urge to paint.

I believe that all artists have their own individual response to the world that inspires and motivates the creation of a painting. It is that "moment of perceived beauty" that seems to originate from a "well within which never runs dry." It is for this reason that I think of artists as having been "called" to create.
